Food Allergies: Know the Signs of Anaphylaxis This Holiday Season
The holiday season is upon us, and parties and family gatherings are happening more often than usual, so I am sharing this infographic that I received from a friend who lost her teenage son to an allergic reaction.
No one wants to be a downer this time of year, but this past year, we saw too many deaths related to food allergic reactions.
A life-threatening food allergic reaction sends someone to the emergency room once every three minutes in the United States. The EpiPen brand is on fire, hitting $1 billion in revenue because of this condition. It’s serious business, and I truly wish that it didn’t impact as many American families as it does today. From 1997-2007, the rate of hospitalizations related to food allergic reactions increased 265%.
So here is an image that shares the signs of anaphylaxis. Read it through. Share it with your spouse, your children, the people you love. Know the signs.
Stay safe this season. It’s up to us.
