An Interview with Emily Brown, founder of Food Equality Initiative
Emily Brown, a former preschool teacher and mother of two, founded the Food Equality Initiative (FEI). FEI, under Emily’s leadership, has placed over $100,000 worth of “free-from” food into the hands of those in need. Her partners are powerful, but it is her passion and tenacity that are so awe-inspiring.
FEI is a voice for individuals who qualify for government assistance but due to their medical condition of food allergies cannot take full advantage of the program.
Black children are 7% more likely to have food allergies compared to white children, so FEI started the 7% Fund to address economic and racial disparities in food allergies.
Her personal story informed her organization, and her ability to quickly solve serious logistical challenges speaks to the extraordinary talent she is. I am proud to call her a friend and hope that you will share this interview with others! You can learn more at Food Equality Initiative.
